The Trust Land Office has two methods to view the location of Mental Health Trust land in Alaska.  The first map link to the right displays a general location map of Trust land by section, dated September 29, 1994.  Keep in mind that if one acre of land in a section is Trust land, then the entire section will be highlighted on this map.

For other PDF maps, visit the DNR Map Library, and select 'Mental Health', under Topic in the search options.  To view public access to state land records, including information on cases, customers, and land parcel information via plats, surveys, and maps, visit the DNR Land Records Info site.

The second map link to the right is an interactive mapping tool that displays the approximate location of Trust land, using AutoDesk's MapGuide application (plug-in required).  It displays the specific parcel boundary, regardless of the size of the parcel, even parcels smaller than an acre.

This mapping program displays lands that were conveyed to the Alaska Mental Health Trust, including those lands that have subsequently been disposed of to a third party, or may be encumbered with an easement, lease, license, or other authorization. This mapping program is not intended for researching the current status of Trust land. For information on the disposition of any particular piece of Trust land, please contact the Trust Land Office by email at MHTLO@dnr.state.ak.us, or by phone at  (907) 269-8658.

The maps, which are displayed using AutoDesk MapGuide 6, are compiled from Department of Natural Resources' electronic databases, but primarily come from the information that creates the state status plats. THE INFORMATION DISPLAYED IN MAPGUIDE ARE FOR GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATION ONLY: THE SOURCE DOCUMENTS REMAIN THE OFFICIAL RECORD. Please consult the Trust Land Office for the official public record.

The Mental Health Trust is comprised of land throughout Alaska. In some cases, the Trust received the entire fee estate interest in the land. In other cases, the Trust only received a limited interest in the land such as the mineral estate or the oil and gas estate. This mapping application displays the Trust Land in red, regardless of the estate received.

The Trust Land can be viewed by individual parcel number (Mental Health Trust Parcel layer) or by quitclaim deed (Mental Health Trust Land QCD layer). To view Trust Land by a particular estate, such as mineral estate, select the layer on the legend that corresponds to the estate of interest, i.e. mineral estate, and turn off the parcel layer and quitclaim deed layer.

The parcel number or quitclaim deed number can be viewed by floating the cursor over the area in question. A tool tip will appear listing the file number and estate received by the Trust. When a QCD number is displayed, you can double click the right mouse button to view the case file abstract for that quitclaim deed file.
