The Trust is offering exploration licensing for coal bearing tracts in the Cook Inlet and Interior Alaska. The licensing and eventual leasing applies only to coal buried approximately 500 feet or deeper, and potentially amenable to "underground coal gasification" extraction. Trust tracts are believed to be good exploration targets based upon regional coal distribution maps and selected reports.

Note: Tract 49 has been removed from this program, and is not available for exploration licensing.
